Author Guidelines

Please note: upon submission, authors must not include their names in the article, in order to safeguard the integrity of blind peer review. Author names remain confidential until the final editorial decision.

1. Every author submitting scholarly work to the Editorial Board of Revista de Direito FAE – RDF must be aware of, and agree with, the journal's focus, its research lines and its Editorial Policies. Authors are further responsible for all content and opinions expressed in work of their authorship.

2. Copyright is held jointly by the authors and by RDF. Prospective authors should also be aware that this is a free and open-access journal which seeks, beyond offering authors an opportunity to publish, to democratise knowledge and thereby promote social and cultural inclusion.

3. Work submitted to the Board must be original articles resulting from scholarly research. Submissions are accepted in Portuguese, English and Spanish.

4. The minimum qualification for submission is a Master's degree; in co-authored work, at least one author must hold a Master's degree.

5. Co-authorship is limited to a maximum of 3 authors.

6. Upon submission, authors must indicate the research line to which their text belongs.

7. Texts must be written in ARIAL 12, with 1.5 line spacing, justified, in accordance with the journal's graphic design, adopted under ABNT NBR 6022:2018. References follow ABNT NBR 6023:2018.

8. Citations must be given exclusively in footnotes, in accordance with ABNT NBR 10520. The author-date system is not accepted.

9. Texts must be between 15 and 35 pages in length, with pages numbered.

10. Chapter headings must be in ARIAL 14, upper case and bold.

11. Left and top margins must be 3 cm; right and bottom margins, 2 cm. The top margin of the title page must be 5 cm, or three 1.5 line breaks.

12. Direct quotations of up to 3 lines must be given in quotation marks within the body of the text. Quotations exceeding 3 lines must be set off, indented by 4 cm, without quotation marks, in ARIAL 10, in accordance with ABNT NBR 10520. Italics are reserved for foreign-language expressions.

13. The title must be repeated immediately below in the same foreign language used for the foreign-language abstract and keywords.

14. The elements of the text must appear in the following order:

a) Title, centred;

b) Title in a foreign language, in lower case and italics;

c) Author name(s) (added after peer review and approval by the Board) in ARIAL 12 italics, with a footnote. That footnote states the author's qualifications and an e-mail address for contact by readers, which appears only after the final editorial decision. Upon submission, authors must not state their name or any element that could identify them, on pain of exclusion of the text;

d) Abstract, in accordance with ABNT NBR 6028;

e) Keywords: between 3 and 5 keywords, in alphabetical order, separated by full stops;

f) Abstract in a foreign language; keywords in a foreign language;

g) Opening remarks or Introduction: heading in ARIAL 14, upper case, bold and justified; body text in ARIAL 12, lower case and justified;

h) Body of the article, divided into numbered chapters and sub-chapters at the author's discretion. Chapter headings in ARIAL 14, upper case, bold and justified; sub-chapter headings in ARIAL 12, lower case and justified; body text in ARIAL 12, lower case and justified;

i) Conclusion: heading in ARIAL 14, upper case, bold and justified; body text in ARIAL 12, lower case and justified;

j) Declaration on the use of artificial intelligence, under item 20 of these Guidelines, immediately before the references;

k) References or Bibliography (heading in ARIAL 14, upper case, bold and justified), listing only works specifically cited in the text, formatted in accordance with ABNT NBR 6023:2018.

15. The decision is communicated by e-mail, and any rejection is reasoned.

16. Articles are published in order of approval and always appear in the immediately following issue, provided it still has space. Otherwise, the text appears in the subsequent issue, and so on, in order of approval.

17. Approval is subject to the following criteria: I) relevance and topicality of the proposed subject; II) fidelity to the subject and clarity in developing it; III) quality of the writing; IV) suitability to the research line and to the submission rules; V) engagement in finding solutions to the subject addressed; VI) innovation and creativity.

18. Submission requires that ALL authors (in the case of co-authorship) be registered in the system, so that, if the manuscript is approved, copyright may be assigned and express agreement to publication may be given.

19. Mandatory use of the official template

All submitted manuscripts must be written and formatted using the journal's Official Template. Submissions that do not use the template are returned automatically for formal adjustment, without review on the merits.

The template is available for download here: Official Template of Revista de Direito FAE. Authors must use this version exclusively, ensuring the visual, editorial and technical standardisation required by the journal.

20. Policy on the Use of Artificial Intelligence

Revista de Direito FAE has its own Policy on the Use of Artificial Intelligence, which must be read before submission. In summary:

• Declaration of use is mandatory. Any use of generative AI, at any stage of the research or writing, must be declared in a specific note at the end of the article, before the references, stating the name and version of the tool and the purpose of its use. Where no tool was used, a negative declaration is recommended.
• It is prohibited to attribute authorship or co-authorship to AI systems; to submit as one's own work any text created or substantially written by AI; to use AI in place of reasoning, argument construction and conclusions; to generate images, illustrations or artistic figures by AI; and to omit or falsely declare the use of such tools.
• Permitted, provided they are declared, are assistive uses applied to text previously written by the author: research support, grammar and style revision, paraphrase or summary of the author's own content, and support in formatting references.
• Human oversight is indispensable, and the author is fully liable for errors, inaccuracies, bias, non-existent citations and plagiarism arising from the use of such tools.
• Consequences. The journal may use similarity-detection and AI-content-detection tools. A breach may result in rejection of the submission and retraction of the published article.

21. Assignment of Copyright

If the article is approved, the author must, within 10 (ten) calendar days of formal notification, submit the completed Copyright Assignment Form and provide the editor with a WhatsApp contact number.

Submission of the Copyright Assignment Form is an indispensable condition for publication. An article whose Form is not submitted within the deadline will not be published. In the case of co-authorship, each author must send their own form individually to revistadedireito@fae.edu.

22. Work arising from an undergraduate thesis defence

Where the work arises from an undergraduate thesis (TCC) defence, authors are advised to state, in the “Comments for the Editor” field, the name of the examining board and the grade awarded, attaching, where possible, a document or image evidencing the grade. This is a recommendation, not a requirement for submission.
